The West High cheer season has officially come to end. After an eventful season, the team hosted their annual end-of-season banquet on March 28. During the banquet, several academic awards were given out as well as awards for Most Improved Cheerleader, Most Dedicated Cheerleader and Cheerleader of the Year.

The cheer team competed at the Triton Challenge earlier this year on Oct. 29, where they placed 7th in their Stunt Group routine and 4th in their Timeout routine. On Nov. 4 the team competed at the Iowa Cheerleading State Championships where they placed 9th in the 4A Stunt Group division and 5th in the 4A Timeout Spirit division.

The team will be holding tryouts for the upcoming season on May 2. There will be an informational meeting April 17 as well as mandatory tryout clinics on April 30 and May 1. More information about tryouts or the upcoming season can be found on the team’s instagram page @icwestcheerleading.
