We have been experiencing a revival in West High football this year. With a perfect record this year, our football domination has returned, along with a particular gold boot. It being October, another tradition has returned to Iowa City West High, and that is powder-puff football. Girls from the junior and senior classes took to the field today to show pride for their class, and their school. This storied sporting event is met with excitement from the girls involved in both classes. Kiara Mitchell ’14, a member of the junior team, expressed her enthusiasm,

“I’m excited because we have the best shirts and we have put our hearts and souls into this game.” Mitchell said.

The class of 2013, who narrowly lost in last year’s game, was also ready for today’s game.

“I think we are going to take the game today, we are confident. Confidence is key.” Ally Disterhoft, a member of the senior team said.

Powder-puff, just like manball, drew enough excitement for students to coach the separate teams. Quinn Steigleder, decided to coach the senior’s this year so she could get involved with the game.

“I get to still be a part of the team. It’s a competitive way to show school spirit and a way to get to know each other.” Steigleder ’13 said.
