Doresca listens to Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Esperanza Spalding and Shabaka Hutchings for both inspiration and entertainment. Some of his favorite songs include "Invitation" by Steven Feifke, "Change of Guard" by Kamasi Washington, "Yes or no" by Wayne Shorter, "Lament" by Miles Davis, "My Favorite Things" by John Coltrane and "Black Radio" by Robert Glasper.
"A Matter of Time" tour setlist

During her tour, Laufey performed upwards of 24 songs each night, pulled from her new album, revamped from her original EP or covered with a guest artist. Songs were grouped into acts one through five by era, instrumentation and theme. Act II was her jazz act, featuring some of her older songs rewritten to be more jazzy. In Act III, Laufey played her classical instrumental interlude entitled "Cuckoo Ballet (Interlude)" which emulates a symphony orchestra.
Surprise songs

Starting on her Sept. 18 show in Fort Worth, Texas, Laufey introduced a rotating surprise song before she played her closer, "Letter To My 13 Year Old Self." The surprise song usually had a meaningful connection to its show, like "California and Me" in San Francisco, California, or a featured artist in the area, like "Best of Wives and Best of Women" with Lin-Manuel Miranda in New York City, New York. Altogether, Laufey added 25 total surprise songs throughout the tour.

Laufey's jazz inspiration

Laufey has said she takes inspiration from jazz stars like Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, whose influences can be seen in her swing, bossa nova and otherwise jazzy music. She compiled a list of some of her favorite jazz on Spotify.
Laufey's jazz covers

More than jazz influence in her songwriting, Laufey has released covers of some jazz standards by her idols Ella Fitzgerald and Chet Baker. Through these covers, she's brought jazz listeners back to the Jazz Age and introduced newcomers to jazz classics.
