West boys basketball on to state, again

The West High boys basketball team defeated City 50-30 for the second time this year on Tuesday and now is one of the remaining eight teams left in 4A.

The somewhat slowly paced game Tuesday night played into the hands of the Trojans who have been known for their defensive prowess; however, at the beginning of the second half the Trojans went on a 13-0 run that gave them enough breathing room to give them a victory after their previous loss to City on February 12.

This marks the sixth consecutive year that the boys basketball program has reached state. They have also won the entire tournament in three of the past four seasons, falling short in the Semifinals to North Scott last year.
