On Tuesday, May 21, the girls tennis team won five singles matches in the state qualifier meet to seal their advancement to the final four at state. Among notable players was Meg Moreland ’18, who pulled out a third set tiebreaker after losing the second set to clinch the win.

“I think the team has worked extremely hard all year and in the off season and it’s showing now,” said Emma Koch ’18. “We are beating teams easily that would have been a challenge for us last year.”

Head coach Amie Villarini felt the team came out strong and played their game.

“We’ve had an amazing season and feel we can compete to win the state title,” Villarini said.

The final four will be held at the Iowa City Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex on Saturday, June 2.
