Colonial Lanes was packed with emotions Friday night as the Trojan bowling teams faced Cedar Rapids Kennedy in their first game of the season.

West’s girls team fell 2044-2341, with returning varsity bowler Neena Turnblom ’23 leading with a score of 335 in two games. Fellow teammate Kayla Schindler ’23 bowled a 320.

On the other side of the alley, the boys bowling team had a combined score of 2505, but didn’t reach the Cougar’s score of 2938. Juniors Ryan Bys and Stirlen Roberson were the top two scorers of the boys team, scoring 328 and 383 respectively.

Despite the pause in winter sports and only having one practice before the game, Bys feels there is much to anticipate for the bowling team.

“It was really good to see everybody again,” Bys said. “I feel like our team has really good chemistry this year, so I really am looking forward to that.”

The bowling teams will head over to Dubuque to face off Dubuque Senior on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
