Trojan Bolts fly past Cedar Falls

The boys swim team is off to yet another impressive season as they kept their undefeated dual meet streak tonight by defeating the Tigers 118-52 at the Coralville Rec Center on Dec. 21.

The Trojan Bolts swept the 200 medley relay, with the team of Max Gerke ’24, Nik Sung ’22, Holden Carter ’24 and Kirk Brotherton ’22 winning the event in 1:38.53. Carter won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.31 while teammate Andy Luo ’22 finished third with a time of 1:55.85. Boyd Skelley ’22, Damon Conzemius ’22 and Sung placed first through third respectively in the 50 freestyle. Sam Ruelas ’24 finished first and Ian Caballero ’23 finished third in the 100 freestyle.

The 200 freestyle relay of Carter, Luo, Conzemius and Brotherton finished first in the event, stopping the clock at 1:30.66. Barrett Coffey ’22 placed first (58.73) and Bill Chen ’22 placed third (101.49) in the 100 backstroke. In the final race of the night, the 400 freestyle relay team of Nick Morden ’22, Ruelas, Lukas Swanson ’23 and Jordan Christensen ’22 won the event with a time of 3:30.52.

The Trojan Bolts will be back in action at the Linn-Mar Aquatic Center for Linn-Mar Invitational Jan. 8.
