Girls’ swimming places 6th at state

West High senior Jade Roghair and Liberty High junior Kolby Reese led the Trojan-bolts to a sixth place finish at state.

The girls’ swimming and diving team traveled to Marshalltown last Friday and Saturday to compete against the best teams in the state. The team placed sixth while several Trojan-Bolts made the podium.

West High senior Jade Roghair placed second in the 200-yard freestyle race, while Liberty junior Koby Reese placed sixth.

The Trojan-Bolts added a pair of medals in the para 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle swim. Hannah Longmire ’26 placed first and second respectively.

Roghair added to her medal count with a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Bella Friessen ’25, Ave Bilskemper ’25, Reese and Roghair came in at fourth place. The 400-yard freestyle of Reese, Bilskemper, Makala Hajek ’23 and Roghair had the same outcome.

Catch the boys’ swim team on Nov. 29 in their home opener at the Coralville Recreation Center, swimming against Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
