The 2016-17 season for the Iowa City West girls soccer team ended with the state semifinals in Ames, finishing their season 19-02. With eight varsity players graduating last year, tryouts for this season will start today.

Tryouts will take place in the gym lobby for the next three to four days after school at 4:15 p.m. and will be scheduled to conclude at 6:30 p.m. Morning conditioning in the West parking lot will occur this Tuesday until next Wednesday, March 28 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Marnie Vonderhaar ’19, Carlin Morsch ’18,  Holly Paulsen ’18 and Rachel Olson ’19 will be the four varsity captains with returning head coach Dave Rosenthal, who was included in the top 23 coaches of the nation in 2017. “After losing so many seniors, I’m excited to build chemistry with a completely new team,” said Olson. “I’m hoping for success this season and a good shot in the state tournament.”
