The boys soccer team sealed their way into the state qualifying game with a win against North Scott. Ranked third in Iowa, the Trojans beat the Lancers 4-1 on May 24.

Throughout the entire season, West has shown amazing team chemistry which has helped them have such a successful season going 16-1, their only loss being against Prairie. With great defense from goalkeeper Nick McDonell ’22 and consistent scoring from Kolby Godbolt ’21, the Trojans have been close to unstoppable this year.

For their first substate game of the year, sophomore Michael Nelson displayed his hustle and grit by scoring three of the four goals made for West. Haider Nasr ’24 also scored in the first half, giving the Trojans a lead so early in the game.

The team will now advance to the next round of substate where they will play Bettendorf, currently ranked 7th. You can catch the Trojans at the Ed Barker Soccer Complex on Wednesday, May 26.
