Sara Whittaker: English Department

What clique did your high school self identify with?

I feel like I hopped around from a lot of different stuff. I played Tennis and I did music. I was also involved in the arts and theater. So take that as you will.”

What were your extracurricular activities?

“I was in speech and I did band for a couple years and I might have quit. But I also did theater and tennis as I said before.”

What year is your photograph from?

“ Wait, are you trying to figure out how old I am? Well that  photo is probably from 1998.”

Amber Austin: English Department

What clique did your high school self identify with?

“ I tried to be a floater and have friends in various cliques.”

What were your extracurricular activities?

“ Tennis, newspaper, yearbook and choir. I had a job as a lifeguard. I was an academic weapon, I was. I also was in the National Honors Society.”

What year is your photograph from?

“ I would say 1996. ”

Nate Frese: English Department

What clique did your high school self identify with?

“I guess I identified with the athletes, but I was in a lot of advanced academic classes. “

What were your extracurricular activities in high school?

“I played football for 2 years, basketball for 3, soccer for all 4. I was in Spanish Club, tried Speech and Debate, member of the National Honor Society, was on the state-qualifying Mock Trial team my senior year.”

What year is your photo from?

“Photo is from May, 1992. Those are three of my best friends in the picture at our senior prom. I still talk to them regularly and have fond memories of hanging out with them.”

James Kirpes: Math Department

What clique did your high school self Identify with?

“I am DEFINITELY not a clique person.”

What were your extracurricular activities in high school?

“ No surprise here I was highly active in Math Club for four years. I was a member of Band and I also ran Track and Cross Country.”

What year is your photo from?

“ I graduated from high school in 1986.”

Andres Alfaro: Foreign Language Department

What clique did your high school self Identify with?

“I was probably part of what was known as the “alternative” clique — students who were into music, ultimate frisbee, politics and reading. It’s hard to define my group of friends, but I learned to value other people and never take anything too seriously.”

What were your extracurricular activities in high school?

“I played the guitar and bass guitar, I played ultimate Frisbee, I played table tennis and I played basketball. I did none of these with organized school clubs but sheerly as after-school activities with friends. We were like an informal club without being a recognized school club.”

What year is your photo from?

“The picture you have is from May 6, 1999 when I was a freshman at West High and it was taken in the cafeteria while we were trying to start a recycling program at the school.”
