Trinity Myers ’25 has completed her senior season strong; boasting a winning record this year, and following last year’s state-qualifying season, Myers was prepared to return to the Xtream Arena mats.
Myers, the only member of West’s girls wrestling team to qualify for state, placed second at the qualifying regional meet hosted by South Tama High School on Jan. 31. Myers qualified to wrestle in the 120 lb weight bracket and was seeded 12th in the bracket.
In her first match of the state tournament on Feb. 6, Myers wrestled the fifth seed Tegan Robertson from Riverside. After a tough, hard-fought battle, Myers fell to Robertson.
Then, Myers moved on to wrestle 13th seed Saphira Olsen from Clear Lake. Myers won by fall after 2:31, sending her to a third match.
In her last match, Myers wrestled Bettendorf’s Quendresa Selmani, the third seed in the 120 weight class. Selmani won 10-0, which completed Myers’ matches at the state tournament.
Xtream Arena will hold the boy’s state wrestling tournament Feb. 16-19.
