On Feb. 6, the West High boys bowling team went up against Wahlert Catholic High School at Colonial Lanes. They defeated Wahlert 3,186-3,086, and will be competing at state qualifiers Feb. 16.
Gabriel Conrad ’26, a fourth-year member of the West boys bowling team, explains how he felt about his performance.
“I did all that I could. A lot of it is just luck. There’s a lot of things that are outside of your control. I could have done better, but I feel like I did as well as I could have — certainly better than yesterday, it’s all mindset.”
To prepare for bowling, his routine is both conventional and superstitious.
“I always get enough sleep, always drink enough water. There’s a specific routine that I do where I wipe my ball a certain amount of times, then take a deep breath, and go.”
