Head coach Mike Parker and the girls cross country team hosted the annual Earlybird Invite at the University of Iowa Ashton Cross Country Course on Thursday, Aug. 29.

The Women of Troy finished fourth out of five teams at the meet, posting an average time of 21 minutes and 41 seconds between the seven varsity runners.

Katie Hoefer ’21 and Camden Zirker ’22 placed 10th and 11th respectively, pacing each other to the top two spots on the West High scoresheet.

Freshmen Minou Emmad (18th) and Vicki Carrica (26th) impressed in their varsity debuts. Look for the young duo to develop into top-notch runners under Parker’s guidance this fall.

The JV team finished first at the meet behind a fourth-place finish from Natalie Katz ’20 and a fifth-place finish from Sara Alaya ’22.

The varsity team races again on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf.
