West takes down Davenport Central in a record breaking night

With an early lead and multiple rushing touchdowns, West High football showed great improvement for their homecoming game.

The Trojans concluded their homecoming week with a win against the Davenport Central Blue devils. With a score of 36-21 and new school records being made, Oct. 1 was a great day for West High.

Mason Applegate ’22 had a record-breaking game with a 379-yard rush beating the previous record set in 2003. With five minutes left in the first quarter, Applegate scored two touchdowns for the Trojans. With a total of four touchdowns throughout the game, Applegate broke records and impressed many. 

Another highlight from the game was a touchdown by Zach Logsdon ’24 in the first quarter. Boaz Abramoff ’22 recovered a fumble that resulted in the next play being anothor touchdown by Applegate. 

West High football will have their next appearance at home against Bettendorf next Friday, Oct. 8.
