Former girls varsity tennis players Ella De Young ’23 and Caroline Mascardo ’22 voiced their dissent of the district’s decision to allow the current West High head tennis coach to continue coaching after a district investigation last fall. The students used the district’s platform of community comment at the April 12 school board meeting to share their stories.

Eight of the nine varsity girls tennis players from 2021 are not playing this season, with two quitting within the last three weeks.

Some of their former varsity teammates who have since quit, Maggie Shin ’24, Mohana Sunkara ’23 and Jay Mascardo ’23, stood behind them in support.
