West High Orchestras had their annual Halloween concert on Oct. 27 in the Arganbright Auditorium and were joined by the Northwest Junior High Orchestras. The concert kicked off with the seventh grade orchestra playing “Tango Trocadero” and “Metallurgy” with the B group playing “Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space”. Following that, the eighth grade Orchestra performed “Sparks!” and “Skeleton Waltz”.
Then, Concert and Philharmonic Strings combined to play “Perpetual Fiddle Motion”, “Monster Mambo”, “Danse Infernale” and ended with “Ghosts of Bohemia”. Finally, Symphony Strings played “Dances of Transylvania ”, “Ghosts of Brandenberg”, “Waltz No.2” from Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra and “The Lost Relic”. To end the night, Symphony Strings and the eighth grade Orchestra played “Monster Mash”, featuring Andreas Warren ’24 as the Mad Scientist.
Lydia Evans ’26 talks describes how her first concert as a member of Symphony Strings went.
“I personally thought it went really well. I had a lot of fun while I was playing. I think Mr. Welch had fun going into it,” said Evans. “I wasn’t nervous at all because everyone was in Halloween costumes and the atmosphere with the eighth graders and the freshmen was really exciting.”
The West High Orchestras will perform with the West High Choirs at their annual Choral Orchestral Concert Dec. 14.
