Ranking Panera soups

Panera is known for their stellar soup selection. That’s why WSS staffers are ranking the soups from this fall to determine the best choices to go with a tasty meal.

Music by Helen Orszula

Nothing is more comforting than a warm bowl of soup on a chilly day, and there’s no better place to get one than Panera. From creamy tomato soup to salty chicken noodle to the sweet autumn squash, there’s a soup for any mood. With their large selection of tasty soups and stews, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

WSS staffers Jules Keranen ’24, Yaya Orszula ’24 and Eleanor Weitz ’24, took it upon themselves to rank and review each soup at Panera to assess their strengths and weaknesses. They tried six soups, including the seasonal offerings of Autumn Squash and Turkey Chili. The only soup not included was the French Onion because it was unavailable during taste testing. The independent rankings were as follows:

Eleanor:

  1. Chicken Wild Rice
  2. Tomato
  3. Broccoli Cheddar
  4. Autumn Squash
  5. Chili
  6. Chicken Noodle

Jules:

  1. Broccoli Cheddar
  2. Chicken Wild Rice
  3. Tomato
  4. Chili
  5. Autumn Squash
  6. Chicken Noodle

Yaya:

  1. Chicken Wild Rice
  2. Broccoli Cheddar
  3. Chili
  4. Tomato
  5. Chicken Noodle
  6. Autumn Squash

The reasoning behind these rankings is included in our podcast linked at the top of the story. Listen to figure out which soup would suit your fancy or compare your own soup opinions.
