Come with Neema Ash ‘25 and Defne Bayman ‘24 as they discuss the antithesis of the pick me: the girl’s girl.

Alongside the rise of the “pick me” has come its antithesis: the girl’s girl. The two terms are used to contrast each other, with “pick me” being an umbrella term for anyone whom the general populace dislikes, and “girl’s girl” to anyone’s favorite celebrity. However, what really is a girl’s girl?

TikTok generally defines a “girl’s girl” as “a girl who has respect for female etiquette.” However, with the rising popularity of the term has come its inevitable overuse, and the term “girl’s girl” is now gaining new definitions beyond its original, easy-to-do characteristics. With the overuse of the term has come the inclusion of celebrities into the trend, but what happens when we worship celebrities without truly knowing who they are, and should we continue to keep them on this high pedestal?
