Meet the bot: Troballin’ and Pumpkin

Meet the 2023-2024 season robots for Trobotix and Trobotix Two.

Earlier this month on March 1 and 2, Trobotix and Trobotix Two competed at the FIRST Tech Challenge Iowa Championship among 71 other teams across Iowa and Nebraska. On March 2, their Centerstage season came to an end.

Trobotix held out a competitive spirit, winning four out of six matches and ranking seventh out of 36 teams in the Black Division. At the end of the qualification matches, Trobotix was selected by the fourth ranked team, 6546 RoboCats, to join their third-seed alliance alongside 24296 TopBot. After two devastating losses against the first-seed alliance in the semi-finals, Trobotix did not advance to the Black Division finals.

However, Trobotix shined at the awards ceremony. The team placed third for the Think Award, demonstrating an outstanding engineering portfolio. Trobotix also won the Promote Award, for creating a successful and compelling video highlighting the best things about FTC. Finally, team co-captain Jinann Abudagga ’25 was named a state dean’s list finalist and will attend the FTC World Championship in Houston on April 17-20.

As a rookie team, Trobotix Two faced tough matchups and lost five out of six matches, ranking 32nd in the division. Despite this, they maintained a positive attitude throughout the competition.

The two teams are now in the off-season and will organize outreach events and build on their respective subteam skills for next season.
